Soul Drippings reflects my current struggles with bipolar disorder, grief, vulnerability, and severe depression. Watercolor splashes are sprinkled with salt to represent tearfulness and the sting of open wounds; the "Bloodied Budgie" conveys the pain of wings clipped too closely. The skull images are my soul, bared. The repeated presence of "shatter" is my fragility and brokeness; a smiling llama--a reminder to keep my sense of humor. My sketchbook closes with a tiny hero, a grasshopper mouse. These desert creatures are immune to scorpion venom and howl at the moon: to me they are a symbol of amazing bravery and courage despite their size. The pages I've left blank serve as semicolons; my journey is not finished yet.
