The title of this book- represents everything. It contains the precious memories of the 122 days that I spent in New York, my dream city.
As I was an exchange student at State University of New York in New Paltz, SUNY New Paltz, I could not only visit many of the art museums in NYC, but also try various different art forms by myself such as drawings and digitalized works. This sketchbook is basically reborn in the form of collage as I crop or change some part of the large works that I complete through school classes. The detailed topics are mirroring, composite nature, rupturing and refocusing the images of our times; deformation and fragmentation, the mathematics of growth, and so on. Even though those pages are not fully connected to each other, the overall sketchbook consists of one big story that depicts my own eccentric world that I appreciate with brilliant and bold colors.
Sometimes I would get advice or reactions from my new foreign friends that I met in New York who made the experience even more memorable. Therefore, this sketchbook is not just a simple collections of my works. Rather, it acts as a medium of communication, and a source of confidence. I desperately want to revisit the Brooklyn Art Library at some point and appreciate their vivid records once again. Ultimately, I want to be a person who enjoys art and loves life just like JUDY IN NEW YORK!
