I am a Russian born Australian artist and art educator, my creative interests are in the fields of new media, installations, video projections, and gender politics.
I think of my book as an unfinished inventory of the bizarre: exaggerated anatomical human body parts from a vintage encyclopedia, distorted photocopies of dolls, drawings, stitching, pinholes, and other inventions. During the making of this sketchbook, I was able to playfully investigate my passion about the oddities of the human body and its relationship to stitching as a way of creating new patterns, connecting lose pieces and mending the torn.
Currently, I am excited to see the broadening of knowledge and interest in the human body and rapid development of technological devices aimed at assisting with physical disabilities and overall enhancement of the human body.
