This book is an exploration of the journey of life. What is behind the door? Why is the woman in the window disintegrating into a puddle? Sometimes we spy a lighthouse only to find it tormented and broken. But we are stronger than we think. Under stormy skies we continue the search. And along the way there are so many moments of beauty scattering the path to sustain us. I use flowers as a symbol of the great beauty of life. Even in the darkest moments, even when we can't stand and feel broken, there is light somewhere, there is fragrant colour.
This book, like life, is a unique collage of ideas and visual references. Although I have lived and worked overseas and grown from these experiences, creating this book made me realise the depth of my connection to my place of birth. My paintings and photos reference my home in Fremantle, Western Australia and my travels - personal and metaphorical - abroad.
I spent many hours making this book which I tried to make as sturdy as possible! I hope that people find it interesting, and see beauty amongst the darkness.
