I became an artist the day Mt. St Helens erupted... May 18, 1980. It was a time for discovering the pervasive and destructive effects of our male, power-dominated culture–
a time when seismic cracks appeared in my foundation.
So... a time of exploring possibilities. Discarded handmade textiles were involved...
But that was long ago.
This sketchbook revisits that explosive energy. It notices the attempted re-emergence of outmoded thinking and my reaction to living in a world on fire.
