This sketchbook began as an exploration of the window and to lay out some ideas for my visual arts senior thesis at the University of San Diego (April 1-5, 2019). I had been struggling to decide on a direction for the show all of the Fall 2018 semester. It wasn't until a few months back that I had decided to just follow what interests me. My work is often grounded in the familiar, since I see it as a kind of recognition or experience that draws a viewer into a piece. I found myself drawn to the window—a familiar aspect of architecture that gives us sight and clarity and comes in countless of forms. This sketchbook pushed me to create, allowing me to discover new techniques and modes of representation, who I currently am as an artist, and the magic in the ordinary.
