The zoo, with it's animals, enclosures, vegetation and keepers is a linear journey that we go through as we visit a zoo. The enclosures and the open viewing areas seem to flip-flop back and forth so that we cannot be sure which part of the image is the cage and which part is the viewing area. This two dimensional ambiguity is a reflection of the conditions that we humans encounter every day. Are we as free as we believe we are?
