My sketchbook is part of a small contingent of young artists (and their mentors) representing Youth Arts Collective (YAC) - an arts nonprofit in Monterey, CA (that also happens to be my day job). Our sketchbook projects coincided with one of YAC's twice-yearly 30Days/30Drawings challenges. When I started my sketchbook, the only thing I knew was that I wanted the whole book to be a cohesive work of art. I used primarily gouache (with some pen and ink embellishments), and painted on stamped paper I rescued from the UC Davis print lab recycling bin in 2010. I cut out pieces using an x-acto knife, and added a few details with my sewing machine as well. All of the portraits (except one) are real people, and there are four Georges.
