I've always been drawn to spooky things. I love horror films, scary stories, and "dark" heavy metal music. I started drawing at a young age and one of the most common themes in my drawings were monsters. When I went to college I studied studio art and had the opportunity to do an independent study where I started making Halloween masks. Art has always been an escape for me. Whenever I draw, sculpt, or paint I become completely absorbed in whatever I'm working on. It's a way to focus myself and let my worries and anxieties disappear for a few moments. This sketchbook is a small sampling of those moments where I let my mind wander. It's a collection of ideas developed while spending my days working as a sales rep and driving around to different big box stores in Western Pennsylvania on cold, dreary winter days. It's situations thought up while dragging the garbage cans down to the curb at ten o'clock at night. It's the things that pop into my head when I wake up in the middle of the night and I can't get my mind to shut down so I can fall back asleep again. Overall, it's a representation of how I make the more everyday moments of my life a little bit more exciting, stranger, and creepy.
