'Sandwich generation: The sandwich generation is a generation of people who care for their aging parents while supporting their own children.' This definition is a Wikipedia definition which I quoted on the first page of my book. In 2010, the decline of my elderly parents began. I know this sounds somber and depressing but the story is so full of mishaps and comical situations that it became a type of comedy, let's call it a tragi-comedy, ala Roz Chast. Because we are living so much longer, there are a lot more of us in the sandwich generation than there ever was, all with our own stories of caring for our parents and our children at the same time. I know there will be many people who will be able to relate to this story. I hope they, too, will take the opportunity to write their own narrative.
