During my time studying for an MA in Illustration I rediscovered and fell in love with printmaking and now linocut is my medium of choice. Inspired by the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and the repetative theme of death in their stories, I wanted to create a book where the pages could be manipulated so that the story can be altered, opening up to reveal the entire story or unfolding certain pages to just tell part of it. My ambition for this book was greater than the time in which to make it, so what you see is an edited version but the joy of linocut is I can print more and keep working on it, adding in everything I missed from this copy and improving on this first attempt. I'm still learning and developing my work as an illustrator using printmaking so I love projects like this where you can experiment and try out different ideas.
