My work roams somewhere between: graphic
novel, journal, zine.
I use self-portraiture to unfold specific events
in my life.
This way of working started as I made my way
through a divorce by painting self-portraits with
comments on the back of each painting.
I wrote and drew, and made an artists limited
edition book about my son leaving for college.
In recent years I have been doing a series of life
size self-portraits in oil to track who I am as I age.
As I started the sketchbook project I thought if I
recorded something that happened on each day it
might be boring, it might be interesting, whatever
it was, the day would reveal the text for each draw-
ing. I started the book on 28 January 2018.
In less than a month, the book revealed itself. The
theme for my book is, “This is not what it seems”.
