A pilgrim on the journey Home, I revel in life’s big questions: Who am I? How am I becoming? Where am I going? How am I getting there? My art tells the story of
these wonderings and wanderings; as my heart feels, my mind sees and my soul imagines. They reflect the ebbs and flows of my life and relationships. They speak of my honest attempts at crafting my life into a work of art. They portray the Holy Spirit guiding me towards wiser ways in discovering Beauty.
I dream about possibilities, enjoy new experiences and embrace learning opportunities. In my art, this translates into my fascination with exploring and experimenting with new art forms, mediums, materials, colour and styles. My art reflects a fundamental belief: within our deepest selves hides pure goodness yet to be unleashed and so there can be no limits to expression.
And so, for this sketchbook project, I worked on the theme ‘no worries’, which I have interpreted as why and how I cope with the stresses of life. I re-visited my paintings from over 10 years and picked 14 that speak of why I might have ‘no worries’.
I incorporated images of these paintings onto mixed media pages. The combination of reflecting on my story, writing and collaging was both fun and calming. This approach is new to me, and I am inspired to do more of it after this. I see what I have created as a prototype for a publication of another form.
And so, whilst humanly impossible to have ‘no worries’, I dare say I largely have little worries because of my faith in God and my art.
I pray that in perusing these pages, you too will come to some inkling of what gives you peace and calm. And that you too will be inspired to evoke your story; hitting the trails of life with new hope and joy to create the masterpiece that you are.
