I am an artist living and working on Vancouver Island, Canada. When I first got my sketchbook my mind went blank - how would I fill it? Too many possibilities and I froze. I found a book of Jack Johnson guitar tab at the thrift store and the lyrics got me started. I really wanted to put together a coherent theme but that did not happen. Some days there were things that I really wanted to try out, so I went with it. Sometimes I was completely uninspired, so I would copy a photo, just so that I had done something that day and it wasn't wasted. I guess that is what a sketchbook is all about. I really loved doing this project, I created regularly (a little more regularly as the deadline loomed) and tried a lot of things I wouldn't normally have given myself time for. I usually take inspiration for my work from dream imagery, I haven't done that all the way through this book but I did try to let my subconscious lead the way.
