Hi! My name is Erin Dunne, and I’m an artist and educator living and working in Central Queensland, Australia. Thanks for picking up my sketchbook!
I love drawing, mark-making and creating works on paper, and I use these mediums to capture poetic moments that arise from the rhythms and routines of suburban life, hence the title of this sketchbook, “Songs of Suburbia”. It features digital prints of both quick drawings from my sketchbooks (I carry one everywhere!) and larger resolved drawings. They depict places that I have lived and loved, including my Nana’s house and amazing back garden, the beach that our family visited every Christmas as children, the neighbours in our street tending their lawns and gardens, and some of the area’s iconic monuments.
Finally, “suburbia” here in Australia exists on the sovereign lands of our First Nations people. I would like to acknowledge the Ghungalu and Darumbal nations on whose Country I live and work, and pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
I’d love to hear from you on social media if this sketchbook resonated with you, so please feel free to get in touch on instagram or facebook!
