I have always been intrigued by people and Mother Nature. I can't imagine a world without diversity. How uninspiring, mundane, and boring that would be. Where would we be without people who explore, "think outside the box", question, and analyze; or those who create laughter and music, etc.?
As an artist, I am motivated by capturing one-of-a kind moments in nature, and I continuously state "Mother Nature is the best artist of all!" I also enjoy creating art that entertains and/or teaches others.
Encountering the theme "People I Wish I Knew" gave me the opportunity to flip my perspective to "who has inspired, entertained, or taught me?". I quickly learned that the sheer number of inspirational people made this a daunting task. I had intended to include with each sketch, the characteristics each person has that compelled me to include them, but I ran out of time. Also, I learned that I could be adding members to the Sketchbook “Club Inspiration” forever! Maybe it's best to leave my personal opinions out of the medium anyway and you can each try to guess what inspired the selections. Most are driven not only by talent or accomplishment, but also by their individualism, life story, strength of character, perseverance, vision, philanthropy, passion, humility, ability to remain relevant, etc.
