Books have always meant a lot to me. I find meaning and metaphor within the pages that take the longest to digest. The inspiration behind this sketchbook is the book “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos” by Jordan B. Peterson. It has impacted me greatly and continues to do so. I wanted to connect my appreciation for this book to my art practice, and share the ideas with a part of the population that may never have picked up this book in the first place.
As an artist, I do not confine myself to one style. In fact, if you were to visit my Instagram, you’d find that none of what you see even closely resembles the styles featured in this sketchbook.
I am inspired by nature, primarily, followed closely by color and light — specifically the shifting light of dawn and dusk.
My process is not anything set in stone. It usually involves a quiet place, which I find very necessary as I have four young children at home. Most of the time I work for only an hour or two at a time in the early afternoon.
