The idea for a Quest to Atlantis came up while I was creating the book. I love adventure stories and films like "Life Aquatic" by Wes Anderson, the films by Georges Méliès and the stories by Jules Verne. So I wanted to develop an own adventure. The start made the watercolor page with the message bottle. The color bled through the paper and made the whole book wavy. So the fear of the white paper was gone and I startet with colored paper and paper cuts combined with drawings. The next step was to get interaction with the book – I worked as an interaction designer for years ;-) and I found a book about creating pop ups in my shelf, so I wanted to try out. So my book comes to be a pop up, interaction, crafted book. This was really new for me and I recognized I want to do more something like this in future. Another inspiration was the art by Ernst Haeckel, an a German biologist. His nature drawings are amazing and I want to learn about while I was copying it. The Sketchbook Project is an amazing thing. Thank You for this great fun.
