Having settled in Scotland I have always sketched buildings within the Scottish landscape that represent the vernacular architechture which i find so fascinating in contrast to the traditional buildings that were part of my upbringing in England.
Ruined crofts and barns that appear on any rail journey through the moors and mountains or old established businesses that remain like time capsules in Scotland's towns and cities; these are what I sketch and record.
This project has focused my collections of drawings sketched from train windows and on foot into a glimpse of Scotland's architecture and nationalism.
Professionally I work in Libraries and have a Fine Art degree,I constantly sketch and also create detailed papercuts of architecture and wildlife.
As a Librarian I feel very proud to be taking part in the sketchbook project and like to hope I will one day visit the Brooklyn Art Library...
