Poetry in response to prompts by live people or online is my thing, but an encounter with a creative non-fiction workshop encouraged me to try memoir in prose. My late father, a country school teacher, left a box of old-fashioned stamps which I had already been envisaging as prompts for mini-memories. This project seemed like a perfect opportunity to test this idea. My son and his wife have a plan for having children but not yet. I thought I could begin sharing insights from a long-gone 20th Century childhood with this imaginary 21st Century addition to the family. I often combine poetry with my scrap booking passion, and prefer to participate in mixed media poetic events, so this is one more adventure in the realm of writing to prescription and art within constraints - a creative pressure cooker!
