I'm motivated by seeing what new image can emerge out of juxtaposing old ones. Most of my materials are from vintage magazines (ranging from the 50s to 80s), but I also use contemporary magazines when I feel like the immediacy can be removed. A lot of my process revolves around shapes, and seeing how random snippets work with one another. Other times I'm more interested in creating a mood. And sometimes I reveled in using this sketchbook as just that - a place to play around with cacophony and randomness without worrying about producing a polished finished piece. It was a fun challenge to work on this scale and make so many mini-collages under a deadline, and I hope you enjoyed flipping through all the "Parts of the Whole" I put together. Thank you so much!
