Art for me is important as a means of reflection.
My artwork navigates between drawing, painting, photography, and printmaking.
Mediums that are usually combined to highlight the tactile nature of the pieces. And also to show through various materials different languages and ways of seeing, communicating and understanding.
Elements of nature, the human body, the skin and the fluids are important to me. This are concepts that are inscribed in a poetic and humourous reflection towards human relations, through expressions such as power, fragility, the concern for the ephemeral and the environmental pollution.
I started doing yoga as a way of releasing stress and improving my posture and taking photographs of roaches as a way of overcoming my fear for these creatures. The consciousness of the present and what endures as opposed as to the ephemeral made me think of how interesting it was that roaches are considered amongst the most endurable on earth. However trying to get rid of them from home I saw how during their death roaches started to make yoga postures! As obscure as it could sound New York City Roaches is a sketchbook that can be used as a manual for making yoga postures.
