You see an open door. What do you do? Do you ignore it? Do you walk in and explore the unknown? Or do you shut it? The decisions you make can change everything. With this sketchbook, I offer you the option. You can leave it on the shelf, you can pick it up and put it right back down, or you can take a look inside. Within the pages, I present to you a look inside something that is a little more than just a book. Something a little more than just some doodles gracing the pages. By entering this book, you’re entering into a part of me. A part of me that is happy, sad, stressed, care free, and every other emotion that you can think of. Every sketch has drawn inspiration from something that has happened in my life. It is my personal series of choices. It is the doors I’ve opened, the doors I’ve closed, and the doors I didn’t care to pay attention to. These drawings are the markers on my path, on my journey. Inspired by people, inspired by music, inspired by things, and inspired by surroundings, this book has become an ode to life and to all that it consists of. As a third year participant of the Sketchbook Project, I could not be happier with the result of this book. It has been a challenging journey as I have taken on a lot of drawings that are outside of my usual style and concept ideas, but it has been a very fulfilling one. I set out to create something that means a little more than what is on the surface. I wished to create art that stimulates all of the emotions. I hope that this book is successful in carrying out that idea. So I’ll ask you again. You see an open door. What do you do? Do you ignore it? Do you walk in and explore the unknown? Or do you shut it? The choice is yours.
