My name is Michele Menard and I am a teaching, working interdisplinary artist based in San Francisco, Ca. I have been painting for over 15 years in a mixed media technique using the mediums of water colors, acrylic paint, fabric remnants, cardboard, oil pastels, crayon, pen, glitter and collage. My work has been shown locally and nationally.. My other forms I have experience and education in are, physical theater, clowning, drama, creative writing, puppetry/masks ,visual art and crafts, directing and musical performance. Currently ,one of my working teaching artist position is teaching puppetry/drama to ages K- 5th grade where I also direct twice yearly student showcases of original work that I produce with my students working with 4 different school in the Richmond District in SF, CA.
Overall I am a storyteller; which means to me trying to invoke a mood, character and feeling in my work that mostly deals with a journey which is filled with bitter sweetness but also the uplifting element of self discovery. I am co-director of Paper Tramp Productions where I produce performance work that includes many of the mediums mentioned above. We will be performing at the Sf Fringe Theater festival in Sept 2015 where we are premiering a new show titled" Hang onto your hats."
Overall my inspiration is to keep growing as a artist and discover myself in the process. while hopefully make whimsical art that is beautiful and engaging .The Sketch Book project allows me to let the art make itself with me surrendering to the process of being present as it unfolds.
"Enchant" is a theme of wandering between night and day, underneath the moon, the sun, among the stars, underneath the streetlight while knowing when the curtain rises up much like sunset there is no beginning or end , it is all disappearing into one much like the intrigue of a lifetime.
