I am both a writer and a photographer and a cultural seer. When I composed this Sketchbook, the subject of rape was whispered...mostly in feminist circles I might add. When the library opened in Brooklyn and authors/artists were present with their friends many asked me what the subject of my book was and when I said "rape" women and men shook their heads and chose something else. Rape is an act of violence and has been around ever since men realized that a woman could be overpowered.
Of course, now men are more subtle. Grabbing an ass (or a pussy as our Predator-in-Chief claims) is seen as innocent. I wonder how innocent it would be if men grabbed one another's privates.
To the winner belongs the spoils, the saying goes and women have always been part of those spoils...in war and out.
