This book's theme is the 2014 Westminster Dog show in New York City. Since I live in NYC, I went to it in person to see the pre-judging and took lots of photos. I had been to the Westminster show before, but this was the first time I have been since my own dog, Murphy, passed away. For me it was a chance to be in a big room, surrounded by dogs, where it was okay to approach them and pet them. Since Murphy was gone, I have turned into that strange lady in the street who stops people walking their dogs to pet them. Making artwork about dogs is a great way to remember Murphy. The Westminster show is chock full of dogs, but also strange dog people like myself. Making this sketchbook took me a while, and I really enjoyed reliving that day when I worked on it.
