I read Larry Watson's novel 'Montana 1948' with my class. A student, Shannon, picked out lines I thought were very powerful. After reading the passage a few times I wrote down the words "dark, isolated". I tried to convey these ideas in my sketchbook, which is made with an old folder, thread, one sheet of tea-stained Fabricano Artistico paper, Staedtler pigment liners and Albrecht Durer pencil.
