The Jar Project

Fill me with stories

The Jar Project will create an ongoing sculptural installation at the Brooklyn Art Library, our storefront exhibition space. We’re bringing together our global community and our New York neighbors to create a world of tiny sculptures in hundreds of little glass jars. Sign up to receive a jar or snag one in person if you’re in NYC. Then capture your imagination, screw on the lid, and make the most of a tiny space!

The Jar Project is an evolving installation at the Brooklyn Art Library, uniting the global Art House community and our New York City neighbors. Each participant creates an installation in an identical glass jar and returns it to our storefront exhibition space. The results will form a shifting gallery of tiny work, suggesting the many ways we can re-imagine a single restrictive space. Your work can take any form: Fill it with stories, build a diorama, paint a miniature landscape or make an assemblage. Sometimes the most amazing things come in the smallest packages — and present the nearly limitless potential of a small empty space.

The 10 x 10 Series is proudly presented by The Self-Portrait Project. Every artist who contributes to The Self-Portrait Project is helping to support the 10 x 10 Series and ensuring that Art House will continue to produce free community art projects.
