When I was in third grade I saw art by other 8-year-olds that was so good, I thought there was no hope for me ever to be an artist - so I quit trying. Last year, after turning 70, I took my first art class. I learned drawing and perspective. Now I'm studying Botanical Illustration at the NC Botanical Garden. It's fun. It's hard work. It's meditative. I hope I never quit learning.
