Welcome to Art House

Art House is an independent Brooklyn-based company that organizes global, collaborative art projects. Our flagship endeavor is the Sketchbook Project: an evolving library that features more than 27,555 artists' books contributed by creative people from 130+ countries. We also operate the Brooklyn Art Library, our storefront exhibition space in the heart of Williamsburg, as a home for all of our projects.

Art House began in 2006 in Atlanta, GA and moved to New York City in 2009. Since that time, our small organization has grown into a worldwide community of more than 60,000 artists. By focusing on the intersection of hands-on art making and new technology, Art House nurtures community-supported art projects that harness the power of the virtual world to share inspiration in the real world.

Steven Peterman

Steven is the co-founder of Art House Co-op and steers the ship as Director of Operations. With a background in printmaking and a nose for vintage ephemera, Steven inspires a love of all things handmade. Steven's vision of sustainable communal art projects keeps the Art House team grounded — and excited to collaborate on new ideas every day.

Sara Peterman

Sara has been around since day one. When Shane and Steven were painting the first ever walls of Art House, Sara did it for just a slice of Domino's pizza. She has put her heart and soul into the project. Sara's eye for ascetic and her keen sense of design and style help make The Sketchbook Project and Brooklyn Art Library what it is.
